Who we are
Heine Propane has kept North Texas running since 2000. We're locally owned and operated, three generations in, and the people answering the phone, driving the trucks and setting the tanks are a team who live in the same five counties as the 7,000 homes and businesses we serve. Our customers rate us 4.9 stars on Google, and about one review in three is a story about somebody who went into an attic at 10:30 at night so a house stayed warm and safe. That somebody is this job.
What we believe
Our mission is short: we keep North Texas running, and we answer for it. That means three things we expect of everyone here, including the person reading this:
- We show up. Answer the call, arrive when it counts, and do exactly what you said.
- We stay. Treat every customer, teammate and neighbor like someone you'll know for twenty years. Because you will.
- We make it better. Never be satisfied with how it's done now. Ask how it could be better, then make it better.
The job
You set tanks, run yard lines, hang regulators, and make gas systems safe and right for homes, ranches, restaurants and builders across Hood, Parker, Johnson, Tarrant and Somervell counties. On an ordinary day that is two or three installs or a run of service calls, done right the first time. On a cold day it is the out-of-gas leak checks and relights that get people their heat back tonight, and the smell-of-gas call where you shut it off, get people out, and then find it. Specifically:
- Tank sets, yard lines, regulators, pressure tests and leak checks, documented the way the state requires.
- Out-of-gas restorations done properly: leak-check, relight, verify every appliance, write it up.
- Troubleshooting: regulator freeze-ups, appliances that won't stay lit, systems somebody else built wrong. Fix what's unsafe before you leave, and tell the customer plainly what you found.
- Explain what's covered and what's billable before you do billable work, so nobody is surprised by an invoice.
- Take your turn on the after-hours and weekend call rotation, heaviest from November through February. It's paid.
- Be here for the winter. November through February is when systems fail, so techs don't take planned vacation in those months.
- Notice things. The third freeze-up on the same kind of set, the fitting that keeps weeping. Tell us, so it stops happening.
Who does well here
You've worked a trade and liked it: propane, HVAC, plumbing, gas piping, electrical. A current Texas Railroad Commission LP-gas certification is the full kit; if you don't have it yet, apply anyway — we pay for the course and the test and you ride with a senior tech until you're signed off. You must be 18 or older, with a driving record an insurer will accept for a take-home service truck, and able to pass a drug screen and a background check. You can say “that's not safe and I won't light it” to a customer in a hurry and stay kind about it. Spanish is a plus. You want to be somewhere for a long time.
Pay, bonuses and schedule
Hourly, based on your certifications and experience — we tell you the number on the first phone call, not after three interviews. On-call is paid. Education bonus: the RRC certification course and test are paid for by Heine when you need them. Relocation bonus: if you're moving to take the job, relocation assistance is available for the right hire. Plus a 401(k) with company match once vested, and other benefits — details in the interview. Monday through Friday days out of our Granbury shop, with on-call turns and seasonal weekend shifts. Vacation blackout November–February.
To apply
Fill out our application below. It takes 12 to 15 minutes: a few questions about your certifications, some real situations from our service calls, and a few things an experienced propane tech knows cold. If you're coming from another trade, say so and answer your best. No résumé is required to start, and we read every application and reply by email within a week. You'll hear from us either way.
