Filter Exchange Credit

Bring your used filter housing or element to Heine Propane and receive an exchange credit toward the replacement element or a new filter assembly. One credit per filter exchanged.

Why the filter matters

Liquid-injected propane engines in delivery trucks, pickups, buses, and vans draw fuel straight from the tank. Rust, scale, and sediment that settle in the tank and fuel lines travel with it. The inline 5-micron filter stops that debris before it reaches the injectors and the vaporizer, which are the most expensive parts on the system.

A clogged filter shows up as hard starts on propane, hesitation under load, lost power, or the system quietly switching back to gasoline. A fresh element costs a fraction of an injector set.

Heine Propane services the filters on the conversions we install and on most liquid-injection systems from other installers. We stock replacement elements and complete housings, and we can rebuild your existing housing while you wait.

Recommended service interval

  • First service after conversion: 5,000 miles. New installs pull the most debris from the tank.
  • Then every 12 months or 15,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  • Inspect at every oil change. Check for weeping at the end caps and fittings.
  • Replace sooner if you notice hard starts on propane, hesitation, reduced power, a fuel-pressure or check-engine light, or the system reverting to gasoline.

Severe duty (dusty routes, older tanks, high idle hours) shortens the interval. Ask us to set a per-unit schedule for your fleet.

Filter service questions

Do I have to replace the whole filter?

No. The housing is rebuildable. In most cases we replace the pleated element and the Buna-N seals and reuse your anodized aluminum housing. A new assembly is only needed if the housing or fittings are damaged.

Can I do the exchange if Heine did not install my conversion?

Yes. The credit applies to any used liquid propane filter you bring in, as long as we are supplying the replacement. Bring the housing so we can match ports and fittings.

Is the filter rated for a propane fuel system?

The filters we supply carry a 350 PSIG working pressure and a 500 PSIG test pressure, which meets the 350 PSIG design requirement for liquid propane engine fuel systems under NFPA 58. The housing carries etched certification markings.

What happens to the used filter?

We depressurize it, pull the element, and recycle the aluminum housing or rebuild it for the next exchange. That is what the credit pays for.
