Yes. Propane has an excellent safety record — tanks are 20× more puncture-resistant than gasoline tanks. Propane dissipates quickly if released (unlike gasoline which pools). All systems meet NFPA 58 and DOT safety standards.
Propane has slightly lower energy density than gasoline, so you'll see 10–15% range reduction per tank. However, with bi-fuel systems, you have BOTH tanks available — total range often exceeds gasoline-only vehicles. Power output is nearly identical (within 5%).
