First-time propane customer? No stress.
Here's exactly what happens from quote to first fill — timeline, site prep, and what we need from you.
Timeline: Same day response
We ask about your home, appliances, and heating needs. Provide a per-gallon rate, tank rental options, and estimated annual usage. No pressure, no hidden fees.
Timeline: 2–5 days
For complex installations (steep slopes, long runs, underground tanks), we visit your property to confirm tank placement, measure distances, and check clearances. Most residential installs don't need this — we can work from photos.
Timeline: 1–3 days (you handle this before install day)
See "Your Responsibilities" section below. Key tasks: mark utilities (call 811), clear the path, secure pets, ensure driveway can support 20,000 lbs.
Timeline: 2–4 hours onsite
Our crew calls 30 minutes before arrival. We deliver the tank, set it in place (crane truck for large tanks), run the gas line to your home, pressure-test for leaks, and connect your appliances. You'll sign a delivery ticket and site access waiver.
Timeline: Same day as install (or next day if install finishes late)
We fill your tank, light pilot lights (if needed), and walk you through propane safety basics. Leave you with a welcome packet including our 24/7 emergency number.
Ongoing: Automatic delivery or call-when-you-need
Choose Monitor Keep Full (we track your usage and deliver automatically) or request refills as needed. Pay online via customer portal or by check.
What your property needs for a safe, compliant installation
⚠️ Can't meet these requirements?
Call us at 817-341-7240. We can often work around obstacles with creative solutions (longer hose runs, smaller tanks, hand-carry installations).
This is required by law. Utility companies will come mark underground lines with flags. It's free and prevents hitting gas/electric/water lines during installation.
Remove lawn furniture, potted plants, toys, firewood, and debris. Trim tree branches hanging over driveway. Mow tall grass if tank goes in yard.
Keep dogs and cats inside or in a kennel. Our crew will be working around your home with heavy equipment — loose pets are a safety risk.
Our crane truck needs room to maneuver. Park cars on the street or in the garage on install day.
We accept checks, credit cards, or ACH. First fill is due on delivery day. Set up autopay in the customer portal for future refills.
On install day, you'll sign a waiver certifying your driveway/property can safely support our delivery truck. This protects both of us — see "Liability Waiver" section below.
We handle all county permits and inspections required for propane installations.
Tank, regulator, gas lines, fittings — all provided at no upfront cost (tank rental).
Licensed technicians install tank, run lines, and pressure-test for leaks (required by code).
We hook up your furnace, water heater, stove, dryer — whatever runs on propane.
Show you where the shut-off valve is, how to check tank level, and who to call in an emergency.
For rented tanks, we handle all inspections, repairs, and recertifications at no extra cost.
Protecting both you and Heine Propane with clear expectations
I certify that:
By requesting installation, I accept these terms and certify that all information provided is accurate.
We've had situations where customers said their driveway was fine, but it cracked under the weight of our truck — then blamed us. This waiver ensures both parties are clear: you know your property best, and you're certifying it can handle the load. If you're uncertain, let us know upfront and we'll find an alternative solution (hand-cart delivery, smaller tank, different path).
We stay on driveways whenever possible. If we need to cross grass, we use plywood mats to distribute truck weight. Minor ruts from soft ground are possible in wet conditions — we repair them when we can.
2–4 hours onsite for most residential installs. Large tanks (500–1,000 gallon) with long gas line runs can take up to 6 hours. We'll give you an accurate estimate when we schedule.
Yes, for the final walk-through and to sign the delivery ticket. If you absolutely can't be home, we can arrange for a trusted neighbor/family member to sign on your behalf (must be 18+).
Call us immediately at 817-341-7240. We offer 24/7 emergency service. If there's a leak, equipment failure, or safety concern, we'll send a technician same-day.
Yes, but it costs $300–$500 depending on distance and gas line work needed. That's why we encourage you to think carefully about placement upfront. We're happy to discuss options before install.
